Outlook Delay or schedule Email Send
Recently I had to release email after work hours and I wondered if outlook have that option and I was verry happy to find it.
To schedule automatic email send follow the steps.
- After you finished writing your email, don’t click Send (yet).
- In Outlook 2007:
Just fill when you want to send the message as seen on the image bellow

In other versions of Outlook: Click Options on the toolbar to display the Message Options screen.
Under Delivery Options, tick "Do not deliver before" and fill in the relevant date and time. Click Close.
Now click Send!
Your email will be moved to the Outbox but will not be sent out until the first time (after your set time) that Outlook does a Send & Receive.

At work I have used MS Outlook 2003 for about 5 years and loved the schedule
auto send/receive function from the Tools > Option > Mail Setup
I upgraded to MS Outlook 2007 about 5 months ago and configured all my
options the same and it worked like a charm until 2 weeks ago when it stopped
working and the only way I could get my email to send was to click the
send/receive button.
I first noticed it when I was working from home and thought it was acting up
due to the VPN connection, but it continued when I returned to the office and
so I had to change my option so that mail was sent immediately because I
would forget to click the send/receive button.
Our IT folks are less than helpful since 2007 is not officially supported.
None the less I dug around and found the other option to use “rules” to delay send, which is fine, but when I have the rule configured I can’t override by clicking on the send/receive button like I could when the delay was set up through the mail options.
The *only* thing that has changed on my system since it stopped working was that the company installed encryption sw on all the computers at work, again IT folks swear that should not have changed how my applications work.
So, is it possible that the encryption app did muck up the 2007 delay send option, in which case I have no options.
OR – is it possible to configure the rule for delay send to allow an
override if the send/receive button is clicked? I tried digging around in
help but could not find anything.
thanks much

Instead of using Send/Recv to over ride try to modify the delayed send rule – in the exceptions field tick Importance – then set it to high. That way if importance=normal then send will happen after set delay. If importance=High (red ! mark)then send is immediate

So you have to leave Outlook 2007 opened? Even on an Exchange Server? What’s the point of that?
And I can’t resist Response to Cathy “Our IT folks are less than helpful since 2007 is not officially supported.”
What’s the problem? If it’s not supported how are they being unhelpful?
