How to guide to recover forgotten Windows Vista local administrator password
- Boot from your Windows Vista installation DVD.
- Click on the Repair Your Computer option
- Press on Next, System Recovery Options dialog box will appear.
- Run Command Prompt
- In Command Prompt, type mmc.exe and press ENTER .
- Click on the File menu, select Add / Remove Snap-in
- Chose Local Users and Groups
- Click Add button
- Click on Local Users and Group
- Click on User, right-click your administrator account.
- Select Set Password .
- Type your new password
- Reboot the system
Now you should be able to login with previously set password
