How to Change and set Default Windows Installation Path

Unusually Operating System is installed on C drive and whenever you install new program it goes to C:Program Filesprogram name

I is because the default suggested installation path is C:Program Files.
It can cause a problem when C drive is been wrong partitioned and the size of C drive is small
You can use registry to change the default application installation path to for example install in D:Programs,
To set different default installation path, follow the steps bellow:

Pres on start
Type in run regedit
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersion.
At the right panel, loacate ProgramFilesDir.
Double click on it to change the value to your desired path. For example, change the value from C:Program Files to D:Programs.

Delete Windows User Profile in Registry

To clear user local profile via registry :

Press on Start > Run >Regedit
Navigate to the following registry key :“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionProfileList”
Under ProfileList navigate to binary key’s like this :S-1-5-21-3656904587-1668747452-4095529-500
On the right side under ProfileImagePath you’’ll see the username and profile path.
Chose the one with the desired user and delete the long reg key like :“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionProfileList”

Note:The following method works on all of these operation systems:Windows 2000/XP/2003/2008 and Windows 7.

First you need to attach VHD file read: How to attach VHD file to Windows 7

Run CMD as Administrator
In Command prompt type: bcdedit /copy {current} /d "VHD_Boot"
If the command succeeds, BCDEdit displays a message similar to the following:The entry was successfully copied to {CLSID_Number}
Then type bcdedit /set {CLSID_Number} osdevice vhd=[C:]disk1.vhd
That’s it, now you can boot from your disk1.vhd

Windows 7 has additional teems that can be unlocked.
Follow the guide bellow

Open “My Computer”
Go to Tools>Folder options
Navigate to View
Remove selection from "Hide protected operating system files"
Go to C:WindowsGlobalizationMCT.
Open one of the MCT-(AU, CA, GB, US, or ZA) folders .
Open the Theme folder
Select the .theme file to use it.
Hide your “System and Protected Operating System files” if you wish .

NOTE: After you use .theme file Windows 7 will save it and you will be able to change use it
from Personalization window location
