A photography workshop with Gil Kreslavsky is a different kind of experience. It is not going to eye candy photography spots where you will find 5 other groups shooting at the same time. It is an authentic deep dive into the place culture. It will change your photography and the way you used to photograph participants, refer to the experience as “before” and “after” a workshop. It will reflect on your portfolio as well. at the end of 2019, there was a trend of posting the best images from that year.
Guess what? At least 33% of the photos that gain most likes that year, were from Gil’s workshops. its 33% out of all year of shooting.
Gil started to teach and share his passion for photography from 2017 when he moved to Chengdu. In less than a year his photography club grows beyond proportions and he had to take measures to limit the number of participants. Everyone wanted to learn photography from him.
From 2018 Gil started taking small groups to places he loves to photograph, mostly India and Myanmar but it is expanding.
The groups are small, never more than 8 people, but mostly up to 6., that small number makes the experience very intimate and differs from regular photo group where the numbers can reach 20+ and personal feedback and tutoring are lost.
With Gil it is around the clock adventure, you spend all the time of the workshop together, he is always there for you.
When you are out together shooting he will focus mostly on your work rather than shooting himself, he will often approach you with the words “show me” and will give you critique and correction on spot, without waiting to the end of the day.
The aim of the workshops is not only to go back with nice photos it is also to become better travel/street photographers. And it doesn’t end with the camera itself.
You will learn how to interact with people, how to do research new locations and mostly observe how someone with years of experience does that. You will pick up a lot of small details that can’t be measured and can’t be learned another way.
In Gil’s, Photo Tours, the focus is on serious photography. You can take photos of smiling children on the way, but the emphasis will be on composition, light, color, story, and feeling. You will learn how to tell stories with your camera.
