Myanmar Street Photography Workshop I Oct 18 2024 (Thadingyut – Festival of light)
In this 5 participants Myanmar photography workshop we will deep dive into Burmese culture and its activities. Get ready to experience the festival of light, casual street life, busting markets and iconic locations.
Our main photography interest will be around Thadingyut festival – Thadingyut, also called the festival of lights. It is the when the followers of Buddha which are the majority in Myanamar, will light up their houses and temples with candles to mark the future return of the Buddha.
Other than photographing the festival of lights in Yangon, we will visit Mandalay and focus on the Buddhist culture of the city which is a home to around 100,000 buddhist monks.
We will split our time between the two cities spending approximately 3.5 days in each place.
Both Bagan and Yangon are paradise for cultural and street photography and are amongst my favorite places to photograph. I have visited there several times since 2012 and have very good knowllage about the locations, the culture and the people.
We will visit the iconic Shwedagon pagoda that is not only considered as holy buddhist site, but also Yangon’s most famous landmark. It is important place for both pilgrims and practicing mons as well, during festvie times the place is full of life and sunsets there are something to be experienced.
Another iconic place is the U-Bein bridge in Mandalay, we will spend part of our time photographing in that area since it’s visually stunning and there are lot of cultural activities nearby.
Myanmar is a fascinating destination for photographers; the culture is so profound and rich that you simply cannot resist taking photographs. The people in Myanmar are some of the kindest I’ve ever met. The majority are Buddhist, and there are about half a million practicing Buddhist monks living there.
The workshop is suitable for photographers of all levels, from beginners to advanced, I provide personalized guidance and feedback to each and everyone, help you improve your photography and achieve your artistic vision.
