My setup for a casual daily carry is very different from what I pack for a six-month photography trip across Asia or a professional client shoot.

You absolutely don’t need the most expensive gear to create great work. Always choose what fits your needs and budget — there are excellent, more affordable alternatives for almost everything listed here.
I always say: it’s better to spend $100 on education than $1,000 on gear. So maybe instead of getting caught up in gear, you might want to check out my online classes — they’ll probably do a lot more for your photography. :)

There’s definitely “better” gear out there, but for me — someone who spends over six months a year traveling — weight and size are critical. All of my gear needs to fit into a 20L backpack. Unless there’s a major event that requires a few extra lenses, I usually stick to a simple rule: one lens per session. It keeps things lightweight, flexible, and helps me stay focused on creating rather than carrying.
When it comes to cameras, I’ve used all the major brands over the years. At the moment, I work with Nikon - it’s what suits me best for now. That said, gear needs and preferences can change, so nothing is set in stone.
Nikon ZF
My main camera is Nikon Zf that ,usually paired with a Ricoh GR 4.
Since I also make some video content for my youtube channel I also use the small action cameras and wireless mics from DJI and Insta 360.
For my YouTube videos, I use the same Nikon Zf that I use for photography, paired with a 35mm lens. I record all my talking head videos with this setup. Since I mix head talks with travel vlogs and interviews, I also use the small action cameras and wireless mics.
